WC SUBSCRIPTION CONTENT RESTRICTOR
Restrict content based on WooCommerce subscription status. Gate pages, posts, or custom post types.
WHAT IT DOES
WC Subscription Content Restrictor gates posts and The Events Calendar events behind active WooCommerce Subscription ownership. You map a post category or event category to one or more subscription products, and the plugin checks whether the current user holds an active subscription before rendering the content. Non-subscribers see a customizable message with an optional call-to-action button, or nothing at all if you prefer silent hiding.
It fits any WordPress site that already sells subscriptions and needs a paywall without adding a separate membership platform. The paywall holds across every surface where WordPress exposes content: single views, REST API endpoints, oEmbed documents, RSS feeds, archives, adjacent-post navigation, and sitemaps. Restricted views also receive no-cache headers so page caches cannot store paid content and serve it to guests.
Features
- Category-based restriction rules that map post or event categories to subscription products
- Any-of matching per rule, so multiple subscription products can each grant access
- Customizable restriction message per rule with heading, body text, and call-to-action button
- Silent hiding option to show nothing instead of a paywall message
- Admin and editor override with an on-page indicator badge showing restriction details
- The Events Calendar integration via output-buffer capture for event-category rules
- Paywall enforced across single views, REST collection and single routes, oEmbed, RSS, archives, adjacent-post links, and sitemaps
- No-cache headers on restricted views to prevent page caches from storing paid content
- Three-layer caching (runtime, object cache, transients) to keep subscription checks off the database
- Privacy exporter and eraser integration; audit-log hooks for developers
- Multisite: options seed across subsites on network activation
Requirements
WordPress 7.0 or newer, PHP 8.3 or newer, WooCommerce (latest recommended), and WooCommerce Subscriptions (latest recommended). The Events Calendar is optional and adds the event-category restrictions tab when active.
